EDUCATION SESSIONS
The Conference Innovators’ DNA, presented by Jeff Hurt
Innovation. It’s the heartbeat of today’s economy. It’s also where you as a meeting professional need to focus your attention, time and resources to compete in the meetings marketplace. Average meetings are planned by average meeting professionals. Yet, most conference attendees don’t want to pay for an average conference. They want a unique experience. Is innovation a talent from birth or something that can be learned and acquired? Good news…you can be more innovative and creative. You can change your behaviors and adopt critical innovative strategies. Innovative conferences are planned by innovative meeting professionals. Innovators think and act differently. What are the traits of today’s innovative meeting professionals? How do they think and behave? Why don’t they let traditional rules and the status quo stand in the way of their vision? What questions do they constantly use to benchmark their thinking? What are the skills needed for innovative thinking and behaviors? During this session, Jeff Hurt (@JeffHurt), director of education and engagement for Velvet Chainsaw Consulting will identify common traits of today’s conference innovators, list four disruptive questions to consider for innovation in your meetings, and explore idea networks for diversity and innovation.
What’s your meeting worth? Behind the curtain and into the boardroom of the hotel REVMax process, presented by Mike Mason and Jamie Murdock
Do you know how valuable your meeting is to hotels? If not, you should. The more you know, the better leverage you have to negotiate your best deal. Former hotel sales executives Mike Mason and Jamie Murdock, from the online booking engine for meetings, Zentila (@Zentila), will conduct a live mock “RevMax meeting” and you’ll be at the table with them. They’ll give you insider tips on what you should do right now to understand your value and, in most cases, increase it so you get the best possible deals from hotels.
By participating in PYM LIVE Events, you will receive a certificate of attendance for submitting for your CSEP, CAE, and CPS/CAP re-certifications. The educational sessions qualify for CMP clock hours in the strategic & event planning process category.
