Who we are

Plan Your Meetings (PYM) is a free educational and social resource for people who plan corporate meetings and events. Everything we do is designed to educate, empower, inspire and connect them to the resources they need to plan better meetings and events.

We do this by creating award-winning multimedia content online, digitally, on social networks, at live events and in an annual guide designed to be a keepsake that addresses current challenges and innovative solutions for the year ahead. Here are some of the resources we offer:

  • PlanYourMeetings.com is our compendium of all things awesome, exciting, essential, innovative and important to the meetings industry. Content is distributed through social networks, videos, live broadcasts and enewsletters.
  • PYM LIVE Events provide planners with educational sessions, networking opportunities and the tools to advance their careers. We connect them with industry suppliers and resources to help them create better meetings and events.
  • We have a promotional merchandise division, Promote Your Message, that provides meeting professionals with branded items, awards and incentives.
  • Our online presence on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and other communities provides real-time feedback, advice, entertainment and resources as well as opportunities to engage with us.
  • We also produce custom Planner Toolboxes for our partners. These online educational portals help our partners distribute our content to planners visiting their websites.
  • Our award-winning PYM Annual guide is designed to be a keepsake. In the back of every issue is our “Practical Guide to Meeting Planning,” which has been called the “meeting planner’s bible.”

Subscriptions to the magazine and online resources are free. Live events have educational sessions certified by the Convention Industry Council, so planners gain continuing education units just for attending them.

Why what we do is important for planners

Since 1994, we have cultivated an audience of people who are not identified by title as “meeting planners,” but who plan all their company’s events, from its picnics and parties to training seminars, incentives and annual conventions.

Some companies have one person who does this, some companies have 30 or more administratives all working on different events, and some outsource all their meetings to a team in its corporate headquarters. Most of the people planning these meetings were thrown into what they do. We offer them a support network, information and guidance, as well as an introduction to some of the best convention and visitors bureaus, hotels, special facilities, transportation providers, and other industry suppliers in the United States and beyond.

Everything we do is designed to help our planners create better meetings and events.

Plan Your Meetings Annual Guide

Plan Your Meetings magazine is the premier publication for more than 30,000 active meeting planners in the U.S. It is an annual publication designed to be an informative and interesting educational tool and resource guide, with in-depth focus features, city-by-city destination articles, resource directories and our exclusive “Practical Guide to Meeting & Event Planning.” Long considered the meeting planner’s “bible,” the planning guide is updated annually and appears in both a digital and print format. A dedicated and experienced team of editors and writers stays on top of industry developments and trends, seeking out experts around the country for advice that will help our planners.

PYM LIVE Events & Education

We know you’re busy, so we’re not going to bore you with another day-long expo. Our live events are fun, informal, educational and fit a lot of useful information and face-to-face networking into a few hours. If you’re a planner, you’ll have the chance to gain CEU credits towards becoming a certified meeting professional (CMP), have access to the finest destinations, products and services available, and get to meet and learn from your peers. If you’re a partner, it’s another inventive way to meet the people you want to help.

Are you a member of MPI? Our editorial director Kristi Casey Sanders is one of their 2012-2013 Proprietary Content Speakers. Search the MPI Speaker’s Database for available sessions. If you book her to present “Smarter, Faster, More Efficient” by June 2013, MPI Headquarters will pay her speaking fees to help make this innovative education more accessible.

She also has been commissioned to create and present sessions for PCMA, SGMP, IAAP and the whole alphabet soup of associations. If you’d like to bring PYM to your office or association event, email Claudia Madigan with your request.
