Canoe down the Wekiva River, a state-certified trail designated “scenic and wild.” Bill’s Airboat Adventures gives tours of local wildlife, backwaters and marsh waters. Nearly three million people a year visit Flea World, America’s largest flea market. Walking tours of Historic Downtown Sanford are available; antiques and curiosity shops and the Rose Cottage Tea Room are popular stops. Seminole County has 10 quality golf courses, including The Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes, an Audubon International Signature Certified Sanctuary ranked four-and-a-half stars by Golf Digest, the Mayfair and Timacuan, which is ranked 14th in the state of Florida.

The 600-seat Helen Stairs Theatre in Sanford presents familiar comedies, children’s theater, musical acts and dance festivals. Gallery space is available at the Museum of Seminole County History, which has exhibits about the county’s history and culture. The Casselberry Art House offers exhibit space, educational programs and workshops. Groups can have meal functions, meetings and retreats at the Central Florida Zoological Park in addition to exploring its hands-on learning center and animal park. Altamonte Springs has several outdoor lakefront venues.

Seminole County has 100 sports venues, many of them Olympic-quality. The 15,000-sq. ft. Seminole County Sports Training Center at Lake Sylvan Park in Sanford is the permanent home of the U.S. Soccer Federation; it has tennis and racquetball courts, and fields for soccer, rugby, field hockey, American football, flag football and lacrosse. Other sports venues include the $4 million Seminole County Softball complex, the Lake Brantley Aquatic Center and the official U.S.A. Softball National Team training center in Altamonte Springs. Meeting rooms are available at the Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium, which has hosted such baseball legends as Jackie Robinson and Willie Mays. A popular September spectator sport is attending the state-regulated alligator hunts on the banks of Lake Jesup.

Dinner cruises are available aboard Rivership Romance, a 110-ft. triple decked ship that departs from the Sanford Marina in Historic Downtown Sanford. Black Hammock Adventures offer groups airboat tours ending with casual dinners featuring menu items such as alligator tail. Altamonte Springs’ Maison & Jardin is a private dining facility with indoor and outdoor banquet space.
