The 258-room Shunde Marriott Hotel opened in Guangdong Province with a 15,069-sq. ft. grand ballroom, a 5,382-sq. ft. foyer and five meeting rooms ranging in size from 323 square feet to 1,184 square feet.
The 812-room Bella Sky Hotel opened in Copenhagen with 48 meeting rooms. The hotel is adjacent to the Bella Center, Scandinavia’s largest conference center (capacity: 30,000).
The 389-room Hilton Munich Airport hotel opened with conference and business facilities in 20 meeting rooms.
The 104-room DoubleTree by Hilton Agra opened with a 3,840-sq. ft. grand ballroom (capacity: 425) and other meeting spaces that hold 75 to 200 people. It also has two boardrooms.
The 224-suite Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall opened in Montego Bay, joining the recently opened Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall, which has 396 suites. The resorts have a combined total of 18,286 square feet of meeting/conference space and more than 30,000 square feet of outdoor meeting space.
The Best Western i-City Shah Alam opened with 214 guest rooms/suites and a business center.
The 357-room Ramada Plaza Sentral Kuala Lumpur opened with 10 meeting rooms.
AMResorts opened the 424-suite Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf and Spa Resort near Cancun with more than 12,000 square feet of meeting space, including a main ballroom that holds up to 500 (theater-style).
The Banana Island Resort Doha opened with 70 guest rooms, 18 suites, 34 villas and a business center.
The IBEROSTAR Las Letras Gran Via opened in Madrid with 103 rooms and six meeting spaces that range from 129 square feet to 3,121 square feet and accommodate groups of up to 250 people.
The 148-room Sheraton Dushanbe Hotel opened with more than 18,000 square feet of function space, including a grand ballroom, a multipurpose hall, six meeting rooms and an outdoor terrace.
The Hyatt Regency Instanbul Ataköy opened in Istanbul with 254 guest rooms, 30 suites and more than 37,500 square feet of flexible meeting and event space. A 10,500-sq. ft. ballroom holds 1,200 attendees for receptions, 864 seated.
The 120-room Grand Hotel Punta Del Estate opened with a grand salon, meeting room and theater indoors (capacity: 40-150) plus a outdoor garden (capacity: 1,000) and a rooftop terrace (capacity: 300).
The 164-room/suite Marina del Rey Hotel in Irvine reopened after a $25 million renovation. It has 9,700 square feet of event space.
The JW Marriott Denver Cherry Creek and The Oxford Hotel were named to U.S. News & World Report’s list of the “Best Hotels in Denver” for 2015. The 196-room Marriott has 8,400 square feet of indoor meeting space and a 2,400-sq. ft. outdoor event space. The 80-room Oxford has 10,000 square feet of meeting space.
The Madeline Hotel and Residences in Telluride has added new dining, ski services and on-site activities (a kids’ hangout, a yoga and Pilates studio) to its 89 guest rooms, 11 hotel residences and 4,000 square feet of meeting space.
Destination Marketing Association International awarded the Amelia Island Convention and Visitors Bureau accreditation as part of its Destination Marketing program.
The oceanfront Delray Sands Resort completed renovations to its 115 guest rooms and suites and more than 2,300 square feet of adaptable indoor and outdoor function space. Its two indoor meeting spaces can accommodate groups of 60 and 100, respectively.
Smuggler’s Cove Resort and Marina in the Florida Keys completed a $500,000 renovation that included its 12 rooms and new dining options.
Acqualina Resort & Spa on the Beach in the Sunny Isles Beach neighborhood of Miami completed renovations to its 98 rooms and suites. The property has 2,759 square feet of oceanfront meeting space that includes a private wraparound terrace.
Accor opened its North America, South America and Caribbean headquarters in Miami.
The Miami Beach EDITION, described as a next-generation urban resort, opened with 294 guest rooms, suites, bungalows and a penthouse. Its meetings/function space includes a 8,300-sq. ft. private event space (capacity: 550 banquets, 920 theater-seating) with its own entrance; a 3,200-sq. ft. naturally lit prefunction space; a 2,400-sq. ft. outdoor terrace (capacity: 240); and three flexible meeting rooms (capacity: 120 banquets, 190 receptions, 117 classroom and 136 theater seating).
The Stiles Hotel South Beach, formerly the Nash Hotel, reopened in Miami after renovations to its 54 guest rooms/suites and lobby. Primrose, a new restaurant, is due to open this spring.
The Lodge at Amicola Falls in Dawsonville completed a multimillion-dollar renovation that included its 57 guest rooms, 14 cabins, a new rocking chair porch and meeting space that can accommodate up to 200 people.
The Lodge & Conference Center at Unicoi State Park near Helen completed a multimillion-dollar renovation to its 100 guest rooms plus renovations/additions to meeting space that includes new prefunction space, a dedicated break area and a boardroom that can accommodate groups of 12 to 500 people.
Virgin Hotels Chicago opened with 250 guest rooms, including 40 one-bedroom suites and two penthouse suites in the historic Old Dearborn Bank Building in the city’s Loop. The property, the first Virgin hotel in the United States, offers free Wi-Fi at unlimited bandwidth and eliminates fees for early check-in, late check-out, room service delivery and business center transactions. The property has three meeting spaces – the Manor, the Sandbox and the Founder’s Room – which hold groups of 108, 72 and 12 people, respectively.
The 267-room Clarion Hotel Shreveport has been rebranded as the Wyndham Garden Shreveport. It has 15,554 square feet of meeting space including a redesigned 6,400-sq. ft. Grand Ballroom.
The 190-room Holiday Inn Shreveport Downtown completed a $4 million renovation. The hotel has free Wi-Fi and meeting space for groups of 10 to 300.

The Chateau on the Lake Resort, Spa & Convention Center in Branson completed renovations to its 301 guest rooms and suites as well as its smaller meeting rooms. It added a 684-sq. ft. Executive Ballroom (capacity: 20 seated) with state-of-the-art technology and audiovisual capabilities.
Seven MGM Resorts International properties in Las Vegas have received 2015 Five Diamond Awards from AAA. They are the Bellagio Resort & Casino, ARIA Sky Suites and SKYLOFTS at the MGM Grand; the restaurants Picasso and Le Cirque at the Bellagio; and the Joël Robuchon Restaurant at the MGM Grand.
Homewood Suites Hamilton opened with 110 suites and a 690-sq. ft. meeting room (capacity: 50). It’s minutes from the New Jersey Turnpike with access to New York and Philadelphia.
Aloft Buffalo Airport opened with 153 rooms and 600 square feet of flexible meeting space.
The 113-room/suite Hilton Garden Inn Hickory opened with more than 1,100 square feet of flexible meeting space.
The Radisson Hotel High Point, formerly the High Point Plaza Hotel & Conference Center, reopened with 252 guest rooms and more than 11,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
Le Méridien Columbus, The Joseph opened in Columbus’ arts district with 135 guest rooms and suites and nearly 7,000 square feet of meeting/event space. The Michael B. Coleman Grand Ballroom holds up to 250 people.
The 78-room Hampton Inn & Suites opened in Pauls Valley with 1,000 square feet of meeting space.
The rebranded 140-room GuestHouse Inn & Suites Eugene/Springfield opened with two meeting spaces.
The 170-room Renaissance Hotel opened in downtown Allentown, with 11,000 square feet of meeting space, which includes a 4,100-sq. ft. ballroom.
The 189-room DoubleTree by Hilton Pittsburgh-Cranberry opened with more than 23,000 square feet of meeting space. Renovations are ongoing.
The 79-room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott opened 10 minutes from downtown Columbia with 793 square feet of function space (capacity: 60).
The Holiday Inn Dallas Central-Park Cities received the IHG 2014 Renovation Award for its $9 million modernization and renovation programs. The hotel has xxxxxx guest rooms and more than 12,000 square feet of meeting space.
U.S. Virgin Islands
AMResorts opened the 297-room Dreams Sugar Bay St. Thomas. It has a gazebo for outdoor events and numerous reception spaces.
The 159-room Hyatt House Salt Lake City/Downtown opened with more than 880 square feet of flexible, high-tech meeting and function space.
The 338-room Westin Arlington Gateway, just outside Washington, D.C., completed renovations to more than 17,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including nine meeting rooms, a boardroom and all prefunction areas.
