India seems the place to be if you’re a major hotel brand. Several recently announced plans to increase their presence in the country.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide predicts it will have 100 hotels in India by 2015. InterContinental and Duet India hotels are partnering to open nearly 20 Holiday Inn Express properties over the next few years.
Marriott signed a tentative agreement with SAMHI Hotels to jointly develop a new Marriott brand for business travelers in India, based on the Fairfield by Marriott brand.
Wyndham Hotel Group has signed agreements that will add seven Indian properties to its Ramada and Days Inn brands between October 2011 and January 2014. Wyndham already operates 12 hotels in India, with another eight in development.
