The 433-room International Plaza Hotel & Conference Centre Toronto Airport opened, becoming the fifth-largest hotel conference center in Canada. The center has 17 versatile meeting rooms and three ballrooms, the largest of which measures 15,000 square feet.
The 14-story, 240-room/suite Mövenpick Hotel Enshi opened in Hubei province with a 5,543-sq. ft. grand ballroom, a banquet hall that can seat 250, eight state-of-the-art meeting rooms and a private club lounge that serves complimentary breakfast, snacks and drinks.
The 323-room Hotel Trident opened in Hyderabad with one conference room.
Bali’s Sing Ken Boutique Hotel was rebranded as the BreakFree Sing Ken Ken. It has 80 rooms/suites, conference space for up to 250 people and a rooftop terrace restaurant.
A $10 million, newly built Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites opened in Cuernavaca with 124 rooms and a meeting room for small groups.

A 148-room Hampton by Hilton opened in Voronezh with a 30-person meeting room. The hotel offers access to the nearby multifunctional complex, Voronezh House of Scientists, which has eight meeting rooms for up to 200 people.
A 110-room Renaissance Hotel opened in Izmir with 2,130 square feet of meeting space.
United Arab Emirates
The 346-room Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah opened overlooking the Arabian Gulf. It has four meeting rooms.
The Hilton Capital Grand Abu Dhabi reopened after refurbishments, with a 700-person capacity ballroom, a 500-person capacity function room, five meeting rooms, two boardrooms and a business center.
The Barbican Centre London refurbished its conservatory, terrace and Garden Room and became the first meeting space in the city awarded AIM gold accreditation. It can host 10 to 2,000 people in its interactive concert hall, theaters, conference suites and boardrooms.
A 106-suite Springhill Suites by Marriott opened in Pensacola, with 400 square feet of meeting space able to accommodate functions for up to 25 people.
The 297-room/suite Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort & Spa opened with 15,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space.
The 131-room Hyatt Place Chicago-South/University Medical Center became the first newly built hotel in Hyde Park in 50 years. It has 1,200 square feet of flexible function space.
Hyatt Chicago Magnificent Mile completed a $25 million renovation that upgraded its 419 guest rooms, 14 meeting and banquet room, the Grand Ballroom, lobby, indoor pool and fitness center,. The hotel has 20,000 square feet of meetins space for groups of 10 to 450.
The 316-room Langham Chicago opened in the last office building designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The 52-story riverfront property has 15,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space.
The 89-room/suite Hampton Inn & Suites Schererville opened with meeting space for 48 people, a business center and indoor pool.
The former Four Points by Sheraton in Leominster has been rebranded DoubleTree by Hilton and is undergoing renovatoins. It has 188 guest rooms and 15,000 square feet of function space.
The 200-room River City Casino & Hotel in South St. Louis completed an $82 million expansion. It has a 14,000-sq. ft. event center and a 1,600-space parking garage.
