We had a blast at the 2011 PYM LIVE Austin. The planners in attendance had great ideas and a lot of questions, which made for an interesting discussion. But perhaps my favorite thing about the Austin event was an e-mail we received from two of the planners in attendance the very next day. It seems […]

The holidays are upon us. This month’s planner profile introduces us to Erica Prewett, a true superwoman of planning social events, as well as a person who keeps the spirit of “giving back” in her heart and mind throughout the year.
Erica Prewett, owner of A Big To Do Event, has been in the business of creating memories through events since 1999. Organizations such as IBM, AmeriCorps, Habitat for Humanity, United Way of Mississippi, as well as individual families, have experienced stress-free social and corporate events because of this “Checklist Queen.”
Recently, I began a keynote presentation at PYM LIVE in Atlanta by quoting from the book “Everything I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.” Sad, but relatively true, especially the concept of leaving things as you found them. “Greening” or sustainability is not really difficult to grasp. Plan for the future, because whether […]
Welcome to my new monthly column! Each month I will spotlight a new planner. If you’re interested in being profiled, please contact me at Lisa.Kraus@PlanYourMeetings.com. This month, I had the distinct pleasure of speaking to Kimberly Roberts, CMP, CSEP.
By Guest Blogger Allison Goldstein, PYM intern On Sept. 16, I attended my first event with the Plan Your Meetings crew at the beautiful Atlanta Botanical Gardens. It was my first visit to the gardens, but I quickly discovered just how beautiful they are; what a perfect location for an event! Upon arrival, the other […]
I was going through the news links posted in one of my LinkedIn groups and saw an article about Meeting Planning 101. So, I clicked the link out of curiosity, and was excited to see Michelle Hill, one of my PYMConnect friends, quoted. I was even more excited to read what she said…
The PYM Town Hall: State of the Industry event was a partner appreciation luncheon hosted by Plan Your Meetings and held at the Atlanta Botanical Garden on Jan. 29, 2009. It was the second of its kind, the first having convened in July 2008. The event was designed to be a group “think-tank” session between […]
At the end of the 2009 PYM Town Hall: State of the Industry luncheon in Atlanta, representatives from each table presented their findings to the group. Here are summaries of what was presented.
Questions asked at this table included: How do you turn a NO into a YES? and How can PYM help you in these uncertain times?
Questions asked at this table were: What are the best markets to target in this economy? and What do incentive groups (or your clients) want now?
Imagine our surprise today when we heard that Plan Your Meetings got a special shout-out at the MPI Houston Chapter’s January luncheon. Of course, we had to investigate … It turns out Katie Laird, an adorable, cupcake-loving social media guru, gave us props for our YouTube channel, which got started as a way for me […]
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of conducting a brainstorming session with meeting planners about the challenges they’re facing right now and what some of the solutions are. Whether you attended or not, I think everyone can benefit from some of the advice your peers have on dealing with toxic bosses, contract negotiations, dealing with attrition, […]
