Per diem rates for the majority of locations for fiscal year 2011 either fell or remained unchanged from 2010 levels ($77/night for lodging and $46 for meals and incidental expenses). The U.S. General Services Administration based the new per diems on the average daily hotel rates charged between April 2009 and March 2010.
The GSA estimates that for FY 2011, there will be a 5.73 percent decrease in lodging costs compared to FY 2010. The fiscal year for per diems begins on Oct. 1. Meals and incidental expense tiers remain the same, but will be reviewed for FY 2012.
