In preparation for the very first Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) this April, and to strengthen the effort, SongDivision, leaders in interactive group songwriting, brought the geographically…everywhere…industry together to create an anthem for GMID.
Lyrical input from meeting and event pros came in advance via SongDivision’s Facebook page, but continued well into the live streaming-on-Periscope intercontinental program.
Sam McNeill (left), Song Division’s creative director hosted the 30-minute-long bash on Feb. 25. Starting with introductions and some bright language, the group engaged with live participants—and an explosion of hearts (likes) flitted across my phone’s screen. Following a multi-genre display, the online audience numbered several dozen selected “disco funk” as the anthem’s style. “It’s timeless really,” McNeill said of the genre.
It was really nice to see a strong European presence among the groovy online meeting-and-music fanatics—good timing as they were nearing the end of the workday.
Although the program took twice as long as the originally intended 15 minutes, it seems certain to have been appreciated based on the thousands of likes received in that time.
What happens next? A professionally produced mix of the track and then…stay tuned!
