They’re one of the most boring items on any planner’s to-do list, but there’s a lot you can do with name badges to facilitate networking, start conversations and enhance branding. In this short video, I share some little things you can do that can make a big difference.
By the way, you’ll notice that I don’t mention the personalized ribbon at the bottom of the second badge. That’s because I’ve got mixed feelings about them. I know why planners use them — they’re funny and can be a conversation starter. But a lot of the sayings are negative or egotistical. I see someone wearing a badge that says “Diva,” I’ll avoid them at all costs. So use at your own risk. Some attendees love them, but I’ve met just as many avid haters.
So remember to include branding, social media info and cool interactive elements. The best thing about QR codes is that you can track the clicks and pattern of attendee use and behavior by using programs like BudUrl Pro and Esponse.
I’m sure there are other things you may have seen or done to make name badges less yawn-inducing. Share your tips with me below.
