Planners are always on the lookout for new, exciting venues for their next meeting. At Plan Your Meetings’ Dallas Expo, May 11, they got quite an eyeful. The trade show and luncheon was held in The Empire Room, framed by breathtaking views of the city from the 48th floor of 1401 Elm, just a few floors below what once was the setting for the office of J.R. Ewing of "Dallas" fame.
That popular T.V. show may have been all fiction, but not so the beguiling ambiance of executive success at The Empire Room, which was reinforced in the elegant table settings, menu and the presentation from keynote speaker, Louise Upshaw-McClenny. A customer service consultant for global businesses and owner of Achievers International, Upshaw-McClenny stressed the importance of personal touch in a world that relies on high-tech communications.
After the luncheon, planners had the opportunity to visit with representatives from 23 exhibiting facilities, all with enticing programs for planners. They offered an interesting and diverse mix, from Arizona, Florida and Mexico resorts, to Texas boutique hotels and restaurants. Also exhibiting were several CVBs and meeting services companies. The show reinforced the fact that no matter what type, size or budget you are working with, you can find a facility suited to your meeting.
As with all Plan Your Meetings trade shows, the event ended with sensational door prizes ranging from resort stays and golf packages to airline tickets and dinner certificates, giving lucky planners in attendance the opportunity to "try before the buy."
Louise Upshaw-McClenny was also one of several speakers at Plan Your Meetings’ 10th Anniversary Southeast Expo in Atlanta. This day-long event at AmericasMart featured morning seminars from innovative industry leaders, a luncheon roundtable, an exhibition hall with more than 150 exhibitors, and a 10th anniversary celebration produced by award-winning Galaxy Productions.
