North America’s fastest growing site selection and meeting procurement company HPN Global announced the launch of their International group, which is the result of a joint venture between Meetings International and HPN.
Air Transat is scheduled to begin service between Marseille, France, Bordeaux and Quebec City in the upcoming months.
The 211-room Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello in Quebec completed a multi-million dollar renovation of its meeting facility, bringing its total meeting space to 11,300 square feet. The hotel also offers an Eco-Meet program for meeting planners to encourage environmental awareness and maximum waste diversion for conference delegates.
The Fairmont Pacific Rim opened in Vancouver with 377 rooms and 15,000 square feet of meeting space for groups of up to 400 people.
Wyndham Hotels and Resorts added three Chinese hotels to its brand, making it the largest U.S.-based hotel company in China. The properties include the 523-room Wyndham Grand Plaza Royale Oriental Shanghai (2,140 square feet of event space), the 316-room Wyndham Grand Plaza Royale Forongguo Changsha (2,000 square feet of event space) and the 283-room Wyndham Grand Plaza Royale West Lake Hangzhou (961 square feet of event space).
Hotel le Mathurin in Paris completed a two-year renovation, adding 19 rooms, a conference room and a library. The hotel now has 54 rooms and meeting space for 12 to 15 people.
The Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain opened in Marana with 250 rooms and more than 44,000 square feet of meeting space.
The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Paso Robles reopened with updated guest rooms and a remodeled business center. The 91-room hotel also features free wireless Internet, 1,100 square feet of meeting space, audio/visual equipment and a catering service.
The Paradise Point Resort & Spa in San Diego completed a $20 million renovation of its 462 guest rooms and 35,000 square feet of event space, which includes 29 meeting rooms and three ballrooms.
The Ritz-Carlton Naples ranked the No. 1 hotel in Florida on Travel + Leisure’s Top 500 List of the World’s Best Hotels. The 450-room hotel features high-speed wireless Internet and more than 35,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space.
The Atlanta Botanical Garden is expected to complete its Green Expansion project by the end of spring. The centerpiece of the project is the Canopy Walk, an elevated pathway through the treetops through the forest floor, which will double the size of the garden. Other additions include the Cascades Garden and the Edible Garden.
Destination South Meetings & Events in Atlanta became an Accredited Destination Company (ADMC).
The 414-room Loews Atlanta opened with 25,000 square feet of meeting space.
Rooftop event space Ventanas opened in Atlanta across from the Georgia Aquarium, the CNN Center, the World Congress Center, Philips Arena and Centennial Olympic Park. The facility features 9,547 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, a helipad, a furnished green room, branding and promotional opportunities, an outdoor deck and views of downtown and midtown Atlanta.
The Georgia Aquarium is expected to complete a multi-million dollar renovation that will add a Dolphin Center, with seating for 16,000 that will be available for group functions.
The 192-room Embassy Suites/Atlanta-Kennesaw Town Center opened 20 miles northwest of Atlanta with 7,000 square feet of meeting space.
Makena Beach & Golf Resort added a new event venue to its property, Makena Vista, which accommodates 150 guests. The 310-room resort has high-speed Internet access, a 5,200-sq. ft. ballroom, breakout rooms, boardrooms and additional outdoor event space for up to 600.
The Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel & Convention Center completed a renovation of its 503 guest rooms, which feature wireless Internet access. The property also offers 55,000 square feet of event space, including a ballroom for up to 3,000 people and 22 breakout rooms.
The Hotel Palomar Chicago opened in the River North neighborhood with 261 rooms and 5,800 square feet of meeting space, including a 2,400-sq. ft. ballroom. The hotel also features an eco friendly “green roof” and complimentary wireless Internet.
The Hyatt Regency Chicago was listed as one of Crain Chicago Business’ Top 20 Best Places To Work in 2010. The hotel has 2,019 guest rooms and 228,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
The Choctaw Casino Resort competed a $300 million expansion, that added a 330-room hotel. Meeting space includes a 4,421-sq. ft. ballroom, a 1,550-sq. ft. conference room and a 775-sq.ft. meeting room.
The eco-friendly Fairmont Pittsburgh opened with 165 guest rooms and nearly 12,000 square feet of meeting space.
MeadowView Marriott Conference Resort & Convention Center completed a multi-million dollar renovation and expansion. The property now offers 195 guest rooms and 66,000 square feet of event space. The expansion is expected to continue with the addition of three amphitheatres, three ballrooms and numerous boardrooms, bringing the total meeting space to 87,000 square feet, opening in the near future.
The Westin Houston Memorial City is expected to open with 267 rooms and 29,000 square feet of meeting space.
Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek completed a renovation of its lobby and 143 guest rooms. Other amenities include 10,534 square feet of indoor meeting space and 3,251 square feet of outdoor event space.
The Maxwell Hotel opened in downtown Seattle with 140 rooms and 1,600 square feet of meeting space.
The Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Seattle-Pioneer Square is expected to open with 262 guest rooms and 4,600 square feet of total meeting space, including nine meeting rooms.
