The 497-room Talking Stick Resort is expected to open May 11 in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, just outside of Scottsdale. Amenities include more than 100,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, including a 25,000-sq. ft. ballroom; a 240,000-sq. ft. casino; eight restaurants; 10 lounges; and access to 36 holes of championship golf at the adjacent Talking Stick Golf Club.
The former Mondrian Hotel in downtown Scottsdale is under new ownership and has been reflagged. Now known as the Hotel Theodore, the property has 189 guest rooms and 10,000 square feet of event space.
ROQ, an American Outdoor Bistro, opened at the Intercontinental Montelucia Resort & Spa in Scottsdale. The 252-room resort has more than 100,000 square feet of meeting space, including seven outdoor spaces, two ballrooms and 14 breakout rooms.
The Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills completed a $33 million renovation of its 285 guest rooms. The hotel has a total of 9,650 square feet of meeting and event space, including a 4,000-sq. ft. ballroom for up to 500 guests.
The Embassy Suites/Palmdale opened in the Antelope Valley, 60 miles north of Los Angeles. The hotel has 150 guest rooms and 3,032 square feet of meeting space.
The W San Francisco became the seventh hotel in the United States to earn Silver LEED certification for an existing building. According to the U.S. Building Council, the hotel earned the award by maximizing operational efficiency while minimizing environmental impacts. The property has 404 guest rooms and 12,000 square feet of meeting space.
The AAA Four-Diamond Loews Denver Hotel joined Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI). Amenities at the 183-room property include 5,000 square feet of meeting space for groups of up to 100.
The former Radisson Stapleton was reflagged the Holiday Inn Denver East-Stapleton. The recently renovated hotel has 300 guest rooms, 26 meeting rooms and 20,000 square feet of function space for up to 400 guests.
The 433-room Westin Beach Resort Fort Lauderdale reopened after completing a multi-million dollar renovation. The hotel has 433 guest rooms, 32,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space and three dining venues.
The 693-room Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami completed a renovation of its three golf courses and 52,000-sq. ft. spa. The resort has 110,000 square feet of event space, including a new 24,000-sq. ft. ballroom and 27 meeting rooms.
WonderWorks Orlando is opening two new attractions this spring: a three-story ropes course and a 4D theater. The glow-in-the-dark ropes course has a maximum height of 36 feet and features more than 20 obstacles suited for a variety of experience levels. The XD Theater 4D extreme motion simulated thrill ride can entertain up to 12 guests at a time, and combines 3D film with full motion seats.

The Honua Kai Resort & Spa on Kaanaapali Beach in Maui added 310 rooms to its inventory with the opening of the Konea Tower. The resort has 3,000 square feet of meeting space and more than 600 one, two and three-bedroom suites.
The historic La Posada de Albuquerque Hotel reopened after completing a $34 million renovation. The property has 107 rooms and 6,000 square feet of event space, accommodating groups of up to 150.
Wyndham Hotels opened the 280-room Fashion 26 Hotel in New York City’s Chelsea district. The fashion-themed property has 1,140 square feet of meeting space, including two breakout rooms for up to 90 guests.
The 391-room Trump Soho-New York opened in downtown Manhattan with 12,000 square feet of event space, including a 3,900-sq. ft. and a 2,020-sq. ft. ballroom.
The five acre NASCAR Hall of Fame site is expected to open early this month in Charlotte, adding 102,000 square feet of space to the existing Charlotte Convention Center, including a 40,000-sq. ft. ballroom. Other amenities of the interactive, sports-themed entertainment attraction include a 275-person theater.
Harrah’s Cherokee in Cherokee, N.C., is undergoing a $633 million renovation and expansion project that will add 532 luxury guest rooms and suites, 195,000 square feet to its casino floor, a 18,000-sq. ft. spa and a 3,000-seat events center. The project is scheduled for completion in 2012.
