Several of Georgia’s top tourism officials were honored this month with awards at the 2013 Georgia Governor’s Tourism Conference. All of the winners were nominated by members of the state’s tourism industry.
- Paul Broun Award for Marketing Initiatives: The Golden Isles Convention & Visitors Bureau.
- Larry Allen Tourism Leadership Award: Laurie Rowe, owner of Laurie Rowe Communications, for championing Georgia destinations.
- Al Burris Award for Creative Expression: The DeKalb Convention and Visitors Bureau, for its partnership with We Are DeKalb magazine.
- Tom Kilgore Lifetime Achievement Award: Bruce Green, Georgia Tourism’s director of tourism product development, for his lifetime commitment to the industry.
According to Gov. Nathan Deal, who attended the event, the total economic impact of tourism in Georgia has topped $51 billion for the first time.
