The global event was last held in the United States in 1987, in Albuquerque, N.M.
Numerous ICCA members and destinations in Mexico and Canada wrote letters of support, as did other U.S. destinations, demonstrating that the entire region strongly bakled Houston’s latest bid to represent the North American region in ICCA’s global rotation cycle.
This year the ICCA met in Buenos Aires, Argentina, attracting 766 delegates from 66 countries, record attendance for any ICCA Congress in the Americas. The Congress moves to Sarawak, Malaysia, in 2016, to Prague in 2017 and Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in 2018.
ICCA, a global authority on international association meetings, represents the main specialists in organizing, transporting and accommodating international meetings and events. It has 1,000 member companies and organizations in more than 90 countries.
