How current is your crisis management plan? Do you know what your host hotel’s emergency plan is? Are all your vendors licensed and bonded? Is your event insured? What do you do if someone shows up to your event with a gun or threatens one of your speakers?
These are a few of the items discussed via a Google+ Hangout on Air on April 24, just a week after the Boston Marathon bombing. Our panel of meeting and event planners included Joan Eisenstodt, Rachael Alford, Pat Ahaesy and Cheryl Lawson. Kristi Casey Sanders moderated.
After sharing real-life case studies and discussing how to work with vendors and clients to develop plans, we talked about communication strategies, essential items to include and security measures planners should consider. In future discussions, we’ll talk about legal issues, limiting liability and media communication strategies.
Here’s a video archive of the conversation.
