When meeting professionals from throughout the Southeast gather for the Meetings Exploration Conference 2013 (MEC) in Atlanta next month, the chatter will be all about innovation and new thinking.
The April 24-26 conference, designed for meeting and event professionals of all expertise and skill levels, will center around the theme “Re:Imagine — Innovative Ideas for Innovative Events.” The re-imagining begins with an opening educational session, followed by a reception with games and live music. It continues in earnest the next two days with educational sessions dubbed Knowledge Pods and a large exhibiting trade show. It wraps with a social gala and charity fundraiser on the third night, which will benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s Atlanta’s Table Program.
Unlike traditional education sessions, MEC’s Knowledge Pods cover topics that are meant to overlap and blend, so that participants can become leading-edge thinkers. Sessions will cover meeting design, hands-on learning labs, enhanced partnerships and leadership development.
A Small Business and Independent Planner Pavilion will be open throughout the conference for attendees wanting to connect with insurance, accounting, IT, social media and wellness consultants.
Registration costs ($50-$215) depend on whether you want to attend part of the conference or just portions. MEC is hosted by the Georgia chapter of Meeting Professionals International (GaMPI) at the Georgia International Convention Center, just minutes from Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson International Airport.
