Project ICARUS, a travel and meeting initiative from the Global Business Travel Association, continues to aim high.
GBTA’s new Gold Medal Recognition Program awards organizations that are willing to learn about and become leaders in sustainability issues based on two commitment levels.
At Level 1, travel buyers and suppliers agree to the principles of Project ICARUS and pledge to take action. At Level 2, gold medals are awarded based on a review of activities that demonstrate a commitment to sustainability, leadership and action. Gold medals are given nationally, regionally and globally.
GBTA’s new Global Advisory Board will provide leadership and guidance in sustainability issues such as climate change and resource management. The board includes buyers, suppliers and academic representatives from Europe, Asia, North America, Australia/New Zealand and Latin America.
Project ICARUS debuted in 2006. GBTA sees it as a definitive source of information, education and support for economic, environment and social sustainability. GBTA, which has more than 5,000 members worldwide, is a leading business travel and meetings organization.
