The 253-room Meliá Vienna opened on 17 floors of the city’s 58-floor Donau-City Tower, the country’s tallest skyscraper. The hotel has 6,800 square feet of meeting space including a ballroom and eight partially combinable meeting rooms.
The historic 1889 Algonquin Hotel in St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, New Brunswick, reopened after a $35 million refurbishment. The 15-acre, 233-room property has 19,300 square feet of meeting space; two restaurants; a new indoor pool with a three-story water slide; an outdoor pool; two hot tubs; a private beach; a spa; and and an 18-hole championship golf course redesigned by Thomas McBroom.
The 176-room Waldorf Astoria Beijing opened with more than 2,000 square feet of meeting space.
The beachfront Radisson Cartagena Ocean Pavillion Hotel opened with 233 guest rooms and more than 11,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor flexible function space. The hotel is near the Cartagena de Indias Convention Center.
The 144-suite Generations Riviera Maya opened in Cancun. Guest rooms come with 1,200 square feet, unlimited butler service and, on the first four floors, swim-up infinity suites.
The 185-room Holiday Inn Muscat Al Seeb opened with event space for up to 250 people.
The 170-room J.W. Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul opened with 10,570 square feet of meeting space, a ballroom that can hold up to 750 guests and an ultra-high definition 98-screen media wall.
The 276-room Crowne Plaza Barcelona – Fira Center opened with 18 meeting rooms holding 10 to 1,200 people. The hotel also has executive private areas and a club lounge.
United Arab Emirates
A newly constructed 254-room Hili Rayhaan by Rotana opened just north of Al Ain (75 minutes from Abu Dhabi). The alcohol-free property has three restaurants and seven meeting rooms, the largest of which holds 120 people.
Ireland’s 501-room Doubletree by Hilton Dublin – Burlington Road completed a $21.6 million renovation of all public areas, guest rooms/suites and conference facilities. The hotel has more than 30,000 square feet of event space including conference space for up to 1,400 people, a 13,000-sq. ft. ballroom and a designated business floor with 18 meeting rooms, a fully equipped business center and multiple function rooms.
A 149-suite SpringHill Suites by Marriott opened in Oceanside with 2,235 square feet of meeting space for functions hosting up to 120 people.
The Radisson Hotel in Santa Maria completed a $2 million renovation that includes all 184 guest rooms and more than 9,000 square feet of flexible meeting space.
The 138-room Best Western Plus North Haven opened with 8,200 square feet of flexible meeting and banquet space for 20 to 600 guests.
District of Columbia
Hotel George on Capitol Hill completed a $5 million renovation of its 139 guest rooms/suites, hallways and elevator banks. The hotel has eight meeting rooms, ranging in size from 224 to 1,240 square feet.
The 22-acre Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort completed a multimillion-dollar renovation that included a new lobby and a redesign of the Bali Steak & Seafood Paradise Lounge and Tapas Bar. The resort has 150,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space and a 10,000-sq. ft. swimming pool.
A 111-room Hyatt Place Lincoln/Downtown-Haymarket opened with more than 1,700 feet of flexible meeting space.
The 124-room Courtyard Wilmington Downtown/Historic District opened with 1,879 square feet of total meeting space for functions of up to 80 attendees.
The Hotel Lucia in Portland completed a $2.3 million renovation of its 127 guest rooms; the entire property was upgraded with a fiber-optic data network. The hotel has two meeting rooms and a 459-sq. ft. boardroom.
The Courtyard by Marriott in Warwick renovated its 92 guest rooms. The hotel has one 700-sq. ft. meeting room for up to 40 attendees.

A 119-suite SpringHill Suites by Marriott opened in Corpus Christi with 1,500 square feet of meeting space for up to 90 people.
The Courtyard by Marriott Charlottesville-University of Virginia Medical Center renovated its 139 guest rooms/suites and hallways. The hotel has a total of 1,900 square feet of function space in three meeting rooms.
