Depending on the type of event you’re planning, the CVB may be all you need to navigate the landscape of your host destination. However, when a more personalized and expert approach is needed, it may be necessary to enlist the help of a destination management company (DMC). According to Michelle Yurcak, a certified destination management professional with Michigan-based Premium Events, there are three main reasons organizations rely on the skill of a DMC:
1. To make an impression on event attendees.
“[DMCs] do the proper research on all aspects of an event to ensure the best possible outcome,” Yurcak says. “Being able to successfully negotiate all the cultural, language, and business practice differences is part of what makes the DMC [different than] others.”
2. To ensure every detail is managed effortlessly.
A well-equipped event team is innovative and able to sort through the details of even the most complex logistical problems, Yurcak says, ensuring a smooth process for all involved.
3. To make sure experts handle all areas of an event.
“Putting a memorable event together is about having practical solutions to a company’s vision, on the ground contacts and resources, clear communication with the company’s leaders, providing visionary ideas and having the resources to make those ideas a reality, and so much more,” Yurcak says. “An organization that is able to handle all these logistics for both small and large-scale events is an invaluable asset to have on your side.”
