“New” is one of the key words driving IMEX Frankfurt, taking place May 21-23 in the German city. It promises new education formats and topics, a new networking hub and a new research hub.
IMEX Frankfurt is the largest global exhibition for incentive travel, meetings and events, drawing about 9,000 exhibitors, hosted buyers and visitors annually. An offshoot, IMEX America, began in 2012 in Las Vegas. The second edition is in October.
The education initiatives in Frankfurt are as follows:
- Devoting part of the Inspiration Centre show floor to a Research Pod (new), where in-depth discussions on industry research will take place twice daily.
- Education “bites” of 45 minutes each, aimed at exhibitors. These Lightening Learning Labs (new) will cover such issues as compliance and security for the hospitality industry and a session titled “A View From Meeting Planners: Winning Strategies,” which is being carried over from IMEX America because of its popularity. Leading the session are Karyl Leigh Barnes and Daniella Middleton of Development Counsellors International.
- A Networking Hub (new) that will offer a menu of networking and well-being events titled “Qi Gong Energizers,” “Healthy Breakfast Blitz,” “Grab and Go,” and “Power of Meditation” campfires.
Education sessions planned includes “Itsy Bitsy Spider,” a sustainability motivation session by PYM contributor Amy Spatrisano of MeetGreen; “Events Are the New Rock ‘n Roll — The Amazing Transformational Power of Music” by Andy Sharpe of Song Division; and sessions on evaluating meeting technologies, strategies for leadership success regardless of gender; curating and creating bite-size content; and tips for trade-show success,
Details on all the sessions, and much more, can be found on the IMEX Frankfurt website.
