The Professional Convention Management Association and BestCities Global Alliance have agreed to become partners in a global alliance/trade association believed to be the first of its kind. The partnership begins officially Jan. 1.
“Becoming a PCMA partner means having a vested interest in strengthening, supporting and educating the industry and BestCities’ own mission to deliver the world’s best service experience for the meetings industry aligns perfectly with PCMA’s core values,” BestCities board chair Karen Bolinger says.
PCMA, a Chicago-based professional resource and educator in the meetings, conventions, events and trade-show industries, has more than 6,700 members worldwide. It has 17 chapters in North America and members in more than 37 countries.
BestCities is the first global alliance with a certification program of standards for convention bureau service excellence. Its U.S. partners are Chicago and Houston. Its global partners are Berlin; Cape Town, South Africa; Copenhagen, Denmark; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Edinburgh, Scotland; Melbourne, Australia; Singapore; and Vancouver, British Columbia.
Spokesman for both groups say the agreement demonstrates a shared commitment to serving their customers, partners and the industry in the best way possible.
