What can Brown do for you? How about handle luggage you don’t want to haul onto an airplane or pay extra fees for? UPS is now selling specially designed boxes that look like suitcases.
Passengers can ship “luggage boxes” to avoid airport check-in lines and escalating airline luggage fees. The “suitcases” include handles, come in two sizes and are made of recycled material and don’t have wheels. UPS officials say they’re simply trying to make life easier for harried travelers.
“We’ve seen more customers shipping golf clubs and skis ahead over the past few years as well as more ‘snow birds’ packing items for annual travel to warmer climates,” said John Minetola, a UPS Store franchisee in Pennsylvania. “Luggage shipping picked up when the airlines began increasing fees for checked bags and carry-ons.”
Although airlines can usually move bags faster, using UPS can save $30 to $80 per bag, depending on its weight and final destination. Another plus, because it has a tracking number, you’ll always know where it is.
The luggage boxes are available at select UPS stores. For more information, click here.
