Email is the No. 1 communication channel for 85 percent of event planners in a study just released by the event-management software company Bizzabo.
Social media was a close second, with 82 percent of planners saying they promoted their event through social channels, followed by word of mouth (69 percent), content marketing (44 percent) and direct mail (32 percent) filling out the Top 5 channels. Besides being planners’ preferred way to promote events, email marketing drives more event registrations (45 percent).
Bizzabo’s 2016 Events of Tomorrow study polled 500 event planners in December 2015.
Facebook (81 percent), Twitter (76 percent) and LinkedIn (61 percent) emerged as the social platforms most event planners rely on to promote events. The study also suggests that planners look at underused platforms — Instagram (28 percent), Pinterest (7 percent) and Snapchat (3 percent) because all three have more than 100 million monthly active users and offer different ways to tell stories.
