Submissions are now being accepted for the annual 2014 IMEX-GMIC Green Awards, which recognize the sustainability practices encouraged by both IMEX and the Green Meeting Industry Council.
The IMEX-GMIC awards — the first in the international meetings, events and incentive travel industry to recognize outstanding achievement in green meetings planning, sustainability and corporate social responsibility — are presented annually at the IMEX in Frankfurt gala dinner along with awards given by Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the JMIC (Joint Meetings Industry Council), PCMA (the Professional Convention Management Association) and Site. IMEX Frankfurt runs May 20-22.
This year’s categories include two Green Meetings Awards (one for large and one for small- to medium-size meetings), a Green Supplier Award (for hotels, convention centers and other event venues) and a Commitment to the Community Award, which recognizes CSR-based incentive programs or projects that give back to a community or group.
Submissions will be judged by these industry experts: Jan “JP” Peter Bergkvist, sustainability adviser, author and owner of SleepWell AB; Amanda Gourgue, chief meeting revolutionist at Meeting Revolution; Louise Hall Reider, owner of Louise Hall Reider & Co.; Elizabeth Henderson, CMM, CMP, M.E. Des., Elizabeth Henderson Consulting; Hugo Kimber, CEO of the Carbon Consultancy and co-founder of Sustainability Intelligence; and Amy Spatrisano, principal of MeetGreen and a Plan Your Meetings contributor.
