“If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples, then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.” — George Bernard Shaw
Conference organizers at last month’s GMIC Sustainable Meetings Conference in Montreal and the committee for the GMIC Sustainable Meetings Foundation (GSMF) have created a fun, new interactive way to collect innovative ideas that will help grow the foundation. It’s called, appropriately, the Idea Auction.
The Idea Auction was developed to advance sustainability education and innovation and raise funds. GMIC members and sustainable event specialists are being asked help grow the foundation by sharing ideas about how to make events more sustainable in the areas of:
- Energy conservation
- Other resource conservation
- Community service
- Financial sustainability
- Wild card
“As a foundation we want to honor intellectual contributions in the same way that we honor financial contributions — recognizing the value of ideas in helping us achieve a sustainable meetings industry,” said Mariela McIlwraith, president of Meeting Change and a GSMF trustee.
If you didn’t attend the Montreal conference, you can participate by bidding online until 5 p.m. Friday (May 11). And you can adopt the idea for your own green ideas.
