Continental and Northwest are among the American airline companies to put in orders for Boeing’s new 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
The Dreamliner, available in three sizes, consumes 20 percent less fuel and has lower emissions than comparably sized aircraft, thanks to the use of composite (plastic) parts, which also reduces landing and maintenance costs. Due to its lower fuel burn, enhanced engine design and aerodynamics, the airplane can fly between 3,100 and 8,800 nautical miles, making possible more than 450 new non-stop flights world-wide.
