Miami hotels are known for having luxurious price tags. But the service that goes with them often has been lacking. Miami hasn’t had a Mobil Five-Star hotel since Mobil downgraded Coconut Grove’s Wyndham Grand Bay nine years ago.
The Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau wants to turn that around. Over the next two years, they are pursuing a $225,000 customer service initiative, including T.V. spots urging residents to be more hospitable to visitors.
General managers say the biggest hurdles for them are a heavy concentration of non-English speaking employees, and a tight labor market that makes adequate staffing difficult.
