As IMEX in Frankfurt wraps up the facts and figures from its May exhibition and looks toward next year, organizers are drawing a number of conclusions.
They also report that this year’s event ended on a record high, with a 33 percent increase in appointments between buyers and exhibitors compared to the previous exhibition. A total of 65,000 appointments took place during the three-day show.
IMEX in Frankfurt had 14,730 total participants, 4,866 visitors from 83 countries, 3,962 hosted buyers from 75 countries and 3,500 exhibiting companies from 157 countries. Here’s a look at some other numbers, comparing 2012 to the previous year:
- Regularly occurring association events that rotate among at least three countries increased by 1,000.
- 49 percent of attendees reported slight increases in budgets.
- Almost 50 percent of meeting/event organizers said they prefer providers with certified sustainability-management systems, an increase of 11 percent.
- Lead times for planners continue to drop, from an average of 95 days to 40.
