If you need help thinking outside the box, you really need to follow our newest advice columnist @MeetingBoy, who really takes things to the next level with his flawless execution of humorous bon mots about office trolls, time-wasting meetings and other onerous workday realities.
He talks about a lot of things, but he always circles back to why meetings suck. At the end of the day, that’s what makes his comments so impactful for meeting planners. Once we started reading his tweets, we knew that we were on the same page. Being the proactive, plus-up educators we are, we reached out and set up a time to touch base with him. We discussed his holistic view of the workplace, what’s wrong with meetings, how they could improve, and what our readers could learn from him. We felt tremendous synergy. It was a total net-net win-win.
Following him is a no-brainer because it’s easy to take his observations of what doesn’t work offline and use that to create a value-added paradigm shift, so that going forward, you can create robust meetings that really engage people.
So think of his barbs as best practices that offer a 30,000-ft. view of what not to do. It is what it is, so do whatever it takes to eliminate those offensive low-hanging noisome fruits your attendees hate. You’ve got a lot on your plate, but you can plus up and leverage his rockstar humor to help you work smarter, not harder.
By the way (in case you were wondering) the thing @MeetingBoy will hate the most about this post is that we used all of his 29 of his “Most Hated Buzzwords,” which you should really check out and never, ever use again. Seriously.
