Lately, news outlets have been awash in stories about disappearing hives. But on May 21, a swarm of 3,000 honeybees disrupted an American Cancer Society charity event in Indiana, prompting some pundits to wonder if they’re just looking for a good cause.
A quick-thinking planner must have been on-site because the event was delayed only slightly; local beekeeper Matt Green was able to smoke the bees into a hive within 45 minutes. Evidently, bees are more social than we thought.
